(01)What it is

SIH1775 asks for a way to detect fake social media accounts. SocialGuard is the prototype answer: paste a post and it tells you whether it reads Genuine, Bot or Suspicious — and, more usefully, why. An analyst's dashboard sits around it.

(02)How it works

One post, analysed
  1. 01→PostPaste the text
  2. 02→SignalsURLs, repetition, spam words, punctuation
  3. 03→ScoreWeighted into one number
  4. 04→LabelGenuine · Bot · Suspicious — with reasons
  5. 05■ModelOptional ML second opinion

(03)What's inside

  1. 01

    Explainable first

The rule-based scorer counts links, repeated words, spammy keywords and excess punctuation, and returns its reasons with the label. A flag you can argue with beats a black box.

  2. 02

A model, trained on the spot

A TF-IDF vectoriser and a logistic-regression classifier can be trained from the app's own data, then run side by side with the rules.

  3. 03

    An analyst's dashboard

Risk distribution, flagged accounts over time, recent alerts, per-account breakdowns and a downloadable report — built in Streamlit with Plotly charts.

(04)The honest bit

  • It runs on sample data — the dashboard describes a CSV, not the internet.
  • A prototype for the problem statement, not a deployed detection system.

No fake users, no invented numbers. If it's a demo, it says so.
